Sensys Gatso Group, a global leader in traffic safety systems, through its subsidiary, Sensys Gatso USA has been selected as the automated red-light enforcement provider for Oelwein, Iowa. This new managed service program is expected to generate approximately USD 1,000,000, corresponding to SEK 9.3 million over the five-year term.
Oelwein, a city in Northeast, Iowa, carries a significant volume of commuters through their roads each day. The location of the red-light intersection that is set to receive the cameras cannot be enforced traditionally with law enforcement, putting its residents, drivers and pedestrians, at risk. Automated red-light enforcement is a safety-driven choice for Oelwein, offering enforcement 24/7 while leaving the City’s police officers free to handle other important matters.
The TRaaS program will likely commence in the first half of 2022 and will be supported with proprietary T-Series red-light systems, Puls data analytics software and Xilium back office software. The five-year contract also allows for several one-year extensions.
“The city of Oelwein has made a well analyzed decision to try to reduce accidents and increase safety for its community and for those who travel through it. Their choice of automated traffic enforcement, based on our experience, should reduce violations of red-light traffic signals. Sensys Gatso is proud to support the city in their traffic safety improvement measures” says Dorian Grubaugh, National Sales Director, Sensys Gatso USA.
